Bombers’ venues supporting the local community

Essendon’s hospitality venues have continued to generously support the community through their donations to grassroots sporting clubs and community groups.

Over the past twelve months, the Windy Hill Venue and Melton Country Club donated over $200,000.00  to 11 sporting and community groups throughout the City of Moonee Valley and City of Melton local government areas.

The clubs who received a donation from Essendon included Athletics Essendon, Essendon Baseball Club, Essendon Bowls Club, Essendon Hockey Club, Essendon Rowing Club, Essendon Tennis Club and Melton Bowls Club  amongst others.

Essendon CEO Xavier Campbell said the club was proud to continue supporting grassroots sport after a challenging two years.

“The past two years has been extremely challenging for community sporting clubs with Covid preventing people participating and getting involved,” Campbell said.

“For the Essendon Football Club through the Windy Hill Venue and Melton Country Club, to be able to provide these local clubs with financial support is something we are all very proud of and we hope this donation will benefit their sporting communities.”

President of the Essendon Rowing Club Simone Richardson thanked the Club for the support.

‘The Essendon Rowing Club is very appreciative of the Capital Works grant from the EFC Trust, to help us with replacement of our single sculls fleet.’

Treasurer of the Essendon Baseball Club Martin Coster said the donation would help cover new equipment.

‘Thanks to EFC and the EFCSC Trust for the Capital Works grant which will be used for concreting and a covering for a hitting backstop.  It is greatly appreciated.’
